What a year. What a year. What. A. Year.

Seattle Sounders are the MLS Champions once again, and the SALT SHALL FLOW ladies and gentlemen. We are in studio the night of the championship. Some of us have napped more than others, but all of us DRANK LIKE CHAMPIONS. This Cup was hard earned and might be the most unlikely championship in the history of the closed system before or after the penalty shootout era.

We’re not going to lie. We bullshit and drink whiskey for a solid hour-45. But we’re pretty sure we’re hilarious. We talk about the events leading up to the match (we have been gone a while after all) , the match itself, and we argue whether Garth is a genius, or whether he was saved by the genius of our Lord and Savior Brian Schmetzer (interim-schminterim).

Steve, Tim, and Andrew are joined by Dave and Carol from @HandsFreeFooty, and in spirit by Sparkle Donkey and Channel 253. We think.

Enjoy the show, Champions.

Pierce County has benefited from years of stable and sensible leadership from Sheriff Paul Pastor. But now he’s retiring and someone new will be elected in 2020. There are two well-known individuals thinking about a possible run: Doug Richardson, Pierce County Councilmember, and Ed Troyer, Media Relations Specialist with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. And there may be other individuals in the wings evaluating a run too.

Host Evelyn Lopez sits down with Journalism Professor and former TNT Reporter Sean Robinson, and Pierce County Councilmember Derek Young, to talk about the Sheriff’s office and what we should be looking for as the race to replace Pastor shapes up.

For in-depth coverage of this topic, please read Sean’s excellent reporting, Two names emerge as likely candidates for Pierce County Sheriff, at Channel 253!

We’re interested in your feedback! Let us know what you think about this episode, and if you have ideas for other issues you’d like to see covered.

Here it is, our last candidate of 2019! This was a meaty interview, y’all. John O’Loughlin is running for At-Large Position 8 on the City Council, which is being vacated by Ryan Mello as he terms out.

O’Loughlin spent 31 years working for the city of Tacoma in environmental services, and oversaw the cleanup of the Foss Waterway. He says that experience brings him a unique perspective on budget and environmental issues in the city.

O’Loughlin hasn’t run for office before and says he’s not a politician. Here, he talks about his ideas on paying for affordable housing, environmental issues surrounding the Port, and his favorite movie, which is a question we probably should have been asking all the candidates because his answer was a deep cut.
