The team at Channel 253 is dedicated to serving Tacoma and Pierce County. We love producing podcasts and events about our community, and your support makes that happen. It’s as simple as that. If you like our shows, please consider joining and supporting what we do!
What are the membership benefits of joining Channel 253?
Members get exclusive access to our members-only podcast Off the Record!
Membership will help ensures we are here to create great podcasts and events for you. So if you listen or come to ACHH, this will keep us around for you! Members will also receive a regular(ish) member-only email that rounds-up recent podcasts, links, and information about upcoming events.
Plus, you get the good feeling that for a small monthly membership fee, you are supporting independent media in your community. If things really take off, we have a lot of ideas on ways we can better serve the community and our members. Either way, we can only do it with your support!
Who gets paid from my membership?
Right now, revenue from Channel 253 primarily goes to production of the shows, the cost of the events, and the hosts. If we add more services (reporting, online forums, or other cool things we haven’t thought of yet) membership support would go toward that and the people who make it happen.
Can I have my membership support one podcast in particular?
No. We totally get it if you don’t listen to all the shows and just have a couple favorites! But piecing out membership would be a logistical nightmare. Your support will keep us all going.
Can I support Channel 253 without being a member?
Of course! You can give a one-time donation via Paypal. You can listen to our podcasts. You can attend our events. You can buy from our sponsors and thank them for advertising on Channel 253. You can rate your favorite podcasts on iTunes. All forms of support are much appreciated.
But don’t you have podcast advertisers? Why are you asking for memberships?
Yes, we have some podcast advertisers, and we are so thankful to them for helping us get to where we are today. But we don’t want to rely on them exclusively. We are a community-focused podcast network and we want to be supported by the community.
Why should I support Channel 253 instead of The News Tribune or KNKX?
You shouldn’t. Go support your local newspaper or independent radio station first. They are doing good work and you should support them. If you’ve done that, then when we would love to have your support of what we’re doing.
Are you a nonprofit?
No. We are a regular business.
